This is Coach Yockey’s 4th year as Head Coach. He has been apart of the Newsome High School football staff for 7 years. In his years at Newsome, Coach Yockey has been an assistant running backs coach, Quarterbacks coach, and Passing Coordinator . During his previous coaching experiences, Coach Yockey was an offensive coordinator at Dr. Lennard High School in Ruskin, Florida. Coach Yockey graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelors in Mathematics. At Newsome High School Coach Yockey teaches in the Math department. Coach Yockey and his wife, Chelsea have two daughters named Charley, and Caitlin.
Coach Shive is entering his 14th year on the Newsome High School Football staff. He has been coaching for 19 years in both Hillsborough and Orange Counties. Prior to coming to Newsome Coach Shive started his coaching career at Riverview High School where over 5 years he coached defensive backs, linebackers, defensive line, running backs, and special teams coordinator. He also coached 1 year as a linebacker coach for University High School in Orange County. Coach Shive has also been the offensive coordinator at Leto High School and defensive coordinator at Spoto High School. Currently he is the assistant head coach, offensive line coach, strength and conditioning coordinator, and trainer. Coach Shive graduated from Saint Leo University with Bachelors of Science in Human Resource Administration and a Masters of Business Administration. At Newsome Coach Shive is part of the career and technical department where he teaches business technology. Coach Shive has a, wife Shannon and a son name Payton.
Coach West is entering his 14th season with the Newsome High School Football staff. Prior to joining Newsome he was an assistant coach for Defensive Backs and Special Teams at Durant High School. In Football, he led the state of Florida in interceptions and total turnovers as a senior while earning All Broward County, All-East Coast Conference, All-State and was named the Broward County Defensive Player of the Year in 1983. After graduating high school Coach West attended Florida State University where he was a walk-on with the Football team and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. He is currently the part owner of Urgent RX company. Coach West and his wife, Kelli have four children – Brian, Kyle, Ally & Andrew.
Coach Yockey is entering his 10th year on the Newsome High Football staff. Coach Yockey began his coaching career in 1974. He has coached at various levels during his tenure coaching at the middle school level for two years, freshman level for two years, high school level for eight years and ten years at the division 1level. He has served as position coach, coordinator and head coach during this time. Highlights include coaching the defensive line at the University of Toledo where the teams won two MAC Championships and defeated San Jose State and University of Nevada Las Vegas in the 81 and 84 California Bowl. Coach Yockey retired in 2004 from Ottawa Hills High School where he served as the principal.
Coach Yockey and his wife, Sally have 2 children Rachael and CJ.
Coach Turner is entering his 7th year on the Newsome High School Football staff. Coach Turner has coached at the high school and youth football level for 18 years. Coming to Newsome from Kennesaw, GA, where he was the head coach for Kennesaw Mountain High School 8th grade team for 6 years. They were division champs for 4 years and in 2006 he led them to their first ever championship game, where they were NGYFL runner ups and Coach Turner was chosen NGYFL head coach of the year. Since moving to Florida he has also served as the football trustee, a head coach, and offensive coordinator for the East Bay Bucs youth football league for 6 years. Coach Turner and his wife, Amanda have three children- Landen, Biminey and Hudson
Coach Goss is entering his 5th year on the Newsome High Football staff. Coach Goss started his coaching career in 1973. He served in the Army & retired from Verizon as a supervisor. Coach Goss was a long time Booster president & coach for King High School. Coach Goss is married to wife Beth of 28 years and has 3 children Mara-Kay, Greg, and Stephen.
